Meet the Captains - Brooke Toigo
1) How did you get into field hockey?
-
I got in to field hockey through my dad’s secretary’s daughter who played. We went to watch one of her games, she game me her old stick, and I got hooked!
2) Do you have any pregame rituals?
-
Last year a teammate and I used to do a stick trick before each game. I don’t have any rituals this year because that teammate is back in the Netherlands; I just go out with the intention of playing hard every game and having fun.
3) How do you keep yourself motivated?
-
It’s not hard to stay motivated for field hockey. I love the practices, love the games, and love this group of girls.
4) Looking into the future, how do you think being a part of a team will help you succeed?
-
I spent a lot of years playing tennis, which is an individual sport, so I really enjoy being a part of a team for field hockey. It teaches you how to work with people, support others, and think outside of yourself, which are all great skills for later in life, both personally and professionally.
