Middle school stays undefeated
FOREST HILLS 1, CHELSEA 1 -- Brooke Toigo (pictured, preparing for the shot) knocked in her own rebound with less than thirty seconds remaining to clinch a tie against host team Chelsea. The Forest Hills defense fought off several chances in a scoreless first half, but Chelsea got on the board with nine minutes remaining. Goalkeeper Madeleine Shaner made five saves on six shots.
FOREST HILLS 2, SALINE 0 -- Abby Almassian deflected a shot off a Saline defender to give Forest Hills the lead with about nine minutes left in the second half, finally breaking through after several penalty corners and other offensive chances in the first half. Madeleine Shaner added an insurance goal with a minute remaining on a pass from Rachel Verbrugge. Remmie Gavle recorded a shutout, fending off Saline's only real scoring chance with a long clearing kick.
The middle school teams now prepare for home games against East Grand Rapids on Saturday, October 7.
